KIKI – LEAD SINGER AND GUITAR
Simone Baldassin, aka Kiki, was born in Treviso on 1st September 1972. At the very beginning, he devoted himself to the bass guitar, and after gaining experience with some local cover bands, he started his song-writer career in 1995 and learned to play acoustic guitar.
A hundreds gigs later, some demo and with no less than 70 songs already written, in 1998 he learned to play synth and he set up Alternathiva, an electronic music band with which he released, from 1998 until 2003, 2 EPs, a studio album, a live album and 2 cover albums from Depeche Mode and The Cure.
After a long series of concerts in northern Italy and another brand new 40 songs, Kiki split the band and in February 2003 he decided go back to cover songs, he became a singer and founded EffettoPlacebo (the Placebo tribute band), which a couple of months later, was invited to perform in Prato, at the presentation of Placebo’s biography.
From that moment onwards, an endless tour took the band playing in the best Italian live clubs for the next 5 years. In 2004, Kiki gave bass up for electric guitar, and the same year the band was invited as a guest at MTV Supersonic for the real Placebo’s performance, which they were to meet soon the day after at MTV TRL and where they are officially recognized by Brian Molko & co. as the only authorized Placebo tribute band. In 2006, the band was charged by Virgin with launching a preview of “Meds” album, during an unforgettable show at the Qube club in Rome.
The band cooperated with the major Italian, French and South American websites regarding Placebo and in December 2007 they left Italy to go on tour abroad, especially in Turkey where they got a huge success, sold-out gigs and lots of interviews for MTV Turkey as most requested tribute band of the year. As a side project, Kiki kept on writing songs and in 2005 he established Seven, an indie band with brand new pieces that released a self-produced EP, which got sold out in few weeks during their Italian gigs. The band signed a contract with the label Videoradio in Milan, released the debut album “Brand new Day” (2006) and produced 2 video-clips, one edited by Seenfilm and one by Grey-Apple.
After a couple of months, Kiki went back to studios and wrote 15 new songs for Seven 07cc’s second album (Videoradio 2007), which was soon sold in all the national record shops and on ITunes. During the album promotion, 2 new videos were shot. In May 2008 Kiki, looking for a new challenge to himself, decided to leave Effettoplacebo on stand-by, gave up Seven, wrote new songs and set up Killetherabbit, with which released a self-produced single, (Closer 2008). The band’s songs were broadcast on the radios, they released interviews, they played at the Motorshow in Bologna at Red Ronnie’s show.
The “Closer” video-clip eventually arrived on TVs such as All Music, Sky, Musicbox. Killtherabbit’s debut album called “Decode” was first released on 14th April 2009 with 12 brand new songs, in a limited edition for the Canadian label ClubZero and at the same time on the most known music platforms , Indiestore, ITunes, E-Music, Nokiastore, Amazon etc.
In 2010, Kiki got back to work with Effettoplacebo, leaving for an international tour which would reach 5 countries between Europe and Asia.
ZIOALE – BASS AND BACKGROUND VOCAL
Alessandro “ZioAle” Pisu was born on 13 august 1981, in Treviso. He grew up in Treviso but moved to Pavia for several reasons, he started getting into the music world by teachimg himself to play the bass at the age of 15. In 1996 he set up with Federico Roncato (former drummer of Effettoplacebo) the group named Valium, a cover band that usually played the Nirvana songs.
At the end of this first experience, he took part into Signora Sandy, a cross-over band with which he would perform in lots of gigs around the Treviso province. In May 2004, he was officially part of Effettoplacebo; with them, ZioAle kept endlessly playing in the major Italian cities over the next years, performing live and promoting the Placebo’s songs.
During the first months in 2005, with Kiki &co., he gave birth to Sevel, a side project band which in 2006 produced an album with original songs in English named “Brand New day”, a project that several singles and 3 videos were taken from. One year later, he worked for producing Seven’s second album, this time in Italian, which saw the release of 2 singles and 2 videos.
With Effettoplacebo ZioAle has to his credit a great deal of concerts in Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, Holland and Belgium. Between 2008 and 2009, he took part, as guitarist, to many live shows with Killtherabbit, the band set up by Kiki after Seven’s splitting, and with which he performed at Motorshow in Bologna and the in major live clubs in Treviso province.
LUCA CAVALIERE – DRUM
Luca Cavaliere was born in Vipiteno (BZ) on 20 August 1980. He moved in Treviso in 1983, where he still lives. When he was 17, he began playing drums in a group of friends of him, the Shed, a very dynamic cocktail of post-grunge music.
Self-taught, he became very well-known in his residence province thanks to lots of local gigs and events. After many changes in the band’s line-up, guitarists and singers who kept coming and going yearly, a new guitar player and a new lead vocalist (a female voice) took definitely part into their project, giving the band a new groove and much more a powerful sound: this way they gave birth to Frances Farmer, a band which would be soon known in the province for their strong appeal on stage.
Some gigs are to remember: the fundraising concert for Telethon, their participations to “Musica di Marca”, “Divergenze Sonore”, some concerts held at “New Age”, the final contest the “Emergenza” first edition. In 2004 they released an EP,Alien, with a good feed-back from the fans. They finally decided to split up in 2008, but still Luca kept playing drums and Muz the bass: the 2 historic members met Kiki and began and new music adventure, founding Killtherabbit trio. New ways opened, more room for melodies and less raw sounds, without losing energy.
After few months, they released “Closer”. The single promotion was made by “Red&Blue” (label?). Their music was broadcast in many regional radios, they got interviewed at “I miti della musica”, a programme by Red Ronnie at Motorshow in Bologna. There were 2 versions of the “Closer” video-clip rotating on Allmusic, Sky and Music Box, where the song stayed for 5 weeks in the top chart. Taking advantage of a good inspiration, they devoted 2009 to recording “Decode”, their debut album which came along with several promotional gigs in northern Italy.
There was a good feedback, so good that the Canadian label ClubZero covered the local region with a limited version of the album, while at the same time the official version was available on multimedia music platforms. Always in 2009, Luca started his co-operation with the very Italian and very well-tested tribute band Effettoplacebo . Many chances were to come and in just one year they reached most of the Italian regions performing at the best national live clubs.
In April 2010, they arrived as far as Turkey and Cyprus, and in July they participated in Spa Tribute festival in Belgium. A couple of months later, Luca would join the band for a tour to Holland.
